It’s quite a process, but the simple explanation is that each of them must be voted onto it by their peers across the community.
The list is prepared by Professional Research Services of Detroit, Michigan, using the following methodology: in an online survey, every licensed attorney in the New Orleans area is asked to nominate up to three attorneys (they cannot nominate themselves) in each given legal specialty.
Each nominee is carefully evaluated on the basis of the survey results, the legitimacy of their license and their current standing with the State Bar Association of Louisiana. Attorneys who receive the highest number of nominations in each specialty are placed on the list.

Morris Bart grew up in the New Orleans area and has made it his life’s work to serve the people of Louisiana and the Southeast. He received his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School and was inducted into the Louisiana Bar in 1978.
He is currently a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, Mississippi Association for Justice, and American Association for Justice and has served on the Board of Governors of the Louisiana Association for Justice.
Among many other academic and professional distinctions, Mr. Bart received the “Super Lawyers” designation in 2007, 2008 and 2010; has been named a “Million Dollar Advocate”; was named “Best Attorney” in Gambit Weekly’s “Best of New Orleans” and was awarded a “Leadership in Law” award from New OrleansCity Business magazine.
