If there is one phrase I hear more than any other from clients it is the phrase, “Flowers, you have no idea what I am going through.”
I cannot help but to laugh when I hear this because in my case, this statement could not be farther from the truth.
I will never forget the day that an automobile accident changed the entire course of my life. As a twelve year old, I was a promising dancer. I was scheduled to go to New York that summer to pursue a professional career in dance.
On that fateful Saturday morning, my mother was driving me to a dance competition at LSU. We were less than a block away from our home when we were t-boned by a pick up truck.
The impact was so hard that it caused our van to flip over. The passenger window shattered and I fell onto the ground with the van landing over me.
It wasn’t until the vehicle came to a complete stop that I realized that I was pinned under the van. The word severe does not even close to describing the pain I experienced pinned under that van; and yet, that pain was nothing compared to the emotional toll that seventeen surgeries and years of waking up at 5:00am to undergo physical therapy before school the accident took on me.

Luckily, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, and I truly believe that everything in life happens for a reason. Working for the premier Louisiana personal injury law firm, I find it a privilege to advocate on behalf on my clients. I want to do all that I can to reduce the amount of stress and emotional pain that accidents and insurance companies can cause throughout the process of recovery.
When insurance companies ask why I take everything on behalf of my clients so personally, I just tell them I know what they are going through – Maya Flowers.
