A three-vehicle crash on U.S. 61 that left one man dead has resulted in the arrest of the dump truck driver who allegedly caused the wreck. According to WBRZ2, 26-year-old Deante Dixon now faces charges related to failure to stop at a stop sign and negligent homicide.
The crash happened at the intersection of U.S. 61 and Flanacher Road. Dixon was heading eastbound on Flanacher Road when he stopped at an opening in the median, but the back of the dump truck he was driving was still in the left lane of U.S. 61.
A BMW driven by 29-year-old Gilbert Rivera crashed into the rear of the dump truck, spun out and collided with a Ford F-150. Although Rivera was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, he suffered fatal injuries.
