Simone Cifuentes is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Economics and Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. After college, she came to volunteer in post Katrina New Orleans and decided to stay permanently.
As a new New Orleanian, she worked in the local nonprofit sector for two years before deciding to further her education. She enrolled at Louisiana State University Paul Hebert Law Center where she earned both her Juris Doctorate and a Graduate Diploma in Civil Law in 2011. While at LSU, she clerked at Louisiana Sea Grant and was the president of the Environmental Law Society.
Ms. Cifuentes was a high school science teacher prior to returning to the legal field. As an attorney, she has practiced personal injury, maritime, immigration, and family law.
